Wow ! Thanks for sharing your experience with us. I have been looking to explore a new place and to celebrate Christmas.

Kerouac, what is discriminatory seating?

I suspect I'm not going to like the concept.

Damn, I was hoping I'd be out of sight when I went to Cafe Marly.

Gret review---compact and informative for repeat visitors.
The apt. looks perfect. We enjoyed staying in Hibiscus but may choose Snowdrop next time for the view.
Agree about Cognac-Jay. Kind of boring compared to many others.

Denisea---I think you already know that we loved Le Reminet. We also loved Le Petite Pontoise--Ausie(next door) The room was cute & quiet, the lady who served us was charming, our choices of food were excellent, and I liked that I could choose any bottle of wine and she would just charge me for how much I drank, not the whole bottle.

Cafe Marly has always been on our list, maybe next time.

TPayt-

We thoroughly enjoyed Snowdrop. As you know, it is on a busy street, so lots of traffic noise if that bothers you. Also, a bit of a rumble as the metro passes beneath. None of theis bothered us, as a matter of fact, being awoken by trumpeters parading by our window on Armistice Day was a treat.

We also loved Le Reminet- had wonderful lunch on a cold ,rainy day in a warm, cozy restaurant.

We have seriously considered staying in the Snowdrop. Glad to know you enjoyed it. It looks like that view, is THE view!

Super excited that your giving Le Reminet a thumbs up-so close to the apt we will be staying at.Same goes Le Petit Pontoise.

OMG on the discriminatory seating. It's always something. I was bitchin' up a storm last night as I (and eventually 2 others) was forced in to sit at a bar table at Fresco by Sotto in NYC because I was solo. I had a reservation and really didn't want to sit in the bar (near door) and told them so. It was so embarrassing b/c they really weren't going to give me a table in the dining room...not a good way to start (was starving or I would have left). When they seated me, I was the only one in the bar at all....totally isolated. They eventually seated two others (singles) at bar tables, as well. I did not enjoy not being in the dining room, especially when I had a reservation and didn't just walk in. Is it b/c I was alone or unattractive??? Hmmmm.

@denisea - that's horrible. Sorry that happened to you. I hear stories all the time about single diners being discriminated against. I hope at least your meal was good.

Denisea-
We have been to Café Marley five times and all five times been seated on the terrace with a beautiful view. Always with wonderful, friendly service. We are hardly " the beautiful people".
I have no experience with Le George, so I cannot comment. We will return to Café Marley every time we go to Paris. Please do not let this article stop you, as in my experience it is not at all the case.

Yestravel....In the scheme of things, not so bad but it did tick me off. The food was excellent, so would go back--but not alone! i travel all the time so sadly, am used to bad table and sometimes bad service. I think the assumption is that the check and tip won't be worth while for a solo diner. It is what it is.

No worries on Cafe Marly....not at all concerned about the discriminatory seating thing
