4 star hotels in Prague

Planning my first visit to Prague for the first week in September and am seeking recommendations for 4 star hotels that are well-situated. I've searched the forum but have not seen much in the way of recommendations in this category. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Forgot to mention that we will be there for 4 days (5 nights) only, so we're looking to maximize our time there with a centrally located hotel. Thanks very much.

We enjoyed the Hotel U Brany. Faces the castle so the rooms have good views if you're on an upper floor. Our room had big windows that opened up to the Castle. Easy walking to the old town and of course, up to the castle.

The rooms were HUGE and the staff very friendly. Nice Bar in the lobby. Super clean.

I forgot about another one. The Hotel U Tri Pstrosu, even nearer to the sites. We ducked into the lobby and looked around while we were there, but did not see the rooms.

We stayed in the Renaissance one trip (I think that counts as 4*) which was bland, modern but had everything you need. And the location was great - only about 2 blocks from the edge of the Old Town and near a lot of great restaurants and shops.

I don't know if Czech hotel rankings go to 4 or 5 stars
On my first visit I stayed at the Prague Four Seasons, I'm sure it is in whatever the top category is
It is one of the finest hotels anywhere, imo

I have a file on Prague; if you'd like to see it, email me at

The Four Seasons is a great property - but is definitely a 5* - and in my experience prices wold be significantly higher (like double) than for a 4*.

In May we stayed at the Hotel U krale Karla. The hotel was great - it has lots of character, the breakfast - good and we really enjoyed the location.

Have you thought about hiring a guide while you are there? It was the best money we spent! We hired Martin Belohradsky from Prague Private Guides for two days and he was awesome.

Have a wonderful trip - you'll have a great time in Prague.

Thanks very much for the suggestions.

LindyE, I actually have thought about hiring a guide for one or two days (especially because we'll only be there for 4 days and I want to make the most of it). We're particularly interested in doing a day trip to the Czech countryside, so a guide would come in handy for that purpose. May I ask how much this particular guide charged?
