3 days in Bordeaux

Going to Bordeaux in early fall for 3 days. Never been there. Looking for ideas on walking around, photo dos and don'ts, breakfast/lunch recommendations and the always helpful, don't go to this/that place.

Well, why did you decide to go to Bordeaux for 3 days?

What are you interested in? What's your budget? Are you traveling alone? What do you mean by photo dos and don'ts?

Hi bg,

Ditto StC.

I think that you have scheduled at least one day too many.

IMO there's PLENTY to do in AND around Bordeaux to easily fill three days..but

are you willing to have a rental car and better yet are you willing to stay outside the city because if you are I know this great hotel and I mean GREAT...

Thanks for the replies -
StCirq - I'll be in Bordeaux for 3 days prior to a week-long tour of vineyards. I'm interested in seeing the city, eating where the locals eat and knowing where I shouldn't consider taking photos.
ira - Ditto my reply to StC. The schedule's etched in stone!
Dukey - I won't have a car, I'll be staying outside the city and cannot change my reservation.

So folks, please fill up my days. I'm an early riser and have lots of energy!

Bumping this up in case Dukey sees this. In doing research for a couple days in Bordeaux I found this thread. But I'm curious what the GREAT hotel Dukey knows of outside the city of Bordeaux.

We found plenty to keep us occupied in Bordeaux without a car but we stayed in the city. The tram and bus were excellent for getting around.

I have some beautiful photos of Monument des Girondins, very famous in Bordeaux, at all times during the day and night. The Jardin Public is a wonderful park with lots of photo ops. We stayed in an apartment that fronted on the Garonne river and my husband was intrigued with the boats carrying the huge wings of the A380 airbus being transported on barges. The Pont de Pierre, near the river, also offers many photo ideas as well as the Place de la Bourse and Mirror d'Eau (also right across from the Garonne.)
