Visa Requirements for Canada? (Cruise to Alaska)

We are planning a cruise to Alaska and it starts in Vancouver. We have three non US citizens with us that have US visas but not Canadian visas. Does anyone know if we will need to get them visas for the eight or so hours we are in Vancouver? I have emailed the Canadian Embassy but am not sure if I will get an answer back.

Anyone have any experience with this? Should I talk to a travel agent, cruise line? (I know NOTHING about visas so any point in the right direction would be VERY helpful).

I would call the Canadian Embassy in Washington DC - here is the number: (202) 682-1740

This information is very important and I wouldn't rely on information from a bb on this since it is possible that someone may be denied getting on a ship and their vacations ruined. It is better to get information directly from the source on this one.

You would be best to get this information direct from a government source. It's too important for mis or outdated information.

Thank you for the number!! (Don't worry, I am just looking for advice--I will not take someone's answer on a message board as gospel). I have emailed the embassy but to have a number is fantastic! I will call today!! Thank you for the help!!!

It depends on the nationality of the passengers. According to Canadian Immigration, here are the countries whose citizens require visas in order to enter or transit Canada along with a list of visa exempt countries:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/visas.html

I would not rely on the cruise line for information.

Have a look at this site:
http://canadavisa.com/documents/exem...tor.htm#exempt

It lists which countries require visa.
If a visa is required you must have it to enter Canada.

Will your non US Citizen also require a new visa to re-enter the US, do they have a multi-entry visa?

Hi there - I am in the same boat as you are. We are actually leaving on our Alaska cruise from Vancouver on June 2. I would really appreciate it if you could share what you found out.

I know we need a TRV. But I am not sure if we will quailfy for a Transit visa.

Thanks!
