Straw Market in Nassau

Does anyone have any idea how late the straw market in Nassau stays open on Saturdays? Our cruise ship docks at 11am and I want to plan a sailing/snorkeling excursion but I don't want to miss the shopping at the straw market. I am wondering how late they are there.

I can't answer but I wouldn't waste any time on straw market. Go to Atlantis or Cable beach instead. JM2C.

I also wouldn't worry about missing that - but if it's important to you, I've found that in most cruise ports - the markets next to the docks are open when ships are in port. It's really odd to watch them open/close based on when the ships are in....

Debi - while not true about the Straw Market, we learned on Alaska cruise that many of the shops in ports are actually owned by the cruise lines.

Here's a website for you:

http://www.bahamasgo.com/treasures/strawmarket.htm

According to the site, the straw market is open 9:00 to 5:00 daily.

Hope this helps.

P.S.: It's been quite a while since we visited Nassau (not on a cruise), but I very much enjoyed looking around the Straw Market. Got some great straw angels for Christmas tree ornaments (which I try to buy every place we visit). It was fun and really interesting to see all the things they managed to create out of straw.

Just my take.

Thanks for the help. My teenagers are really interested in going to the market by Senor Frogs because they sell tons of knock-off purses. They could care less about the straw items! They just want to be sure they can shop for purses.
