Question about which airport - Ft. Lauderdale or Miami
We are taking a cruise from Miami and staying in South Beach for the night. Still need to book our flight. Would it be to far to fly into Ft. Lauderdale and then taxi it over, or should we just fly into Miami? Found a great rate for flying into Ft. Lauderdale but it might not save us much $$ if we have to use it all on transportation anyway. Thanks in advance!

Fort Lauderdale airport has not been upgraded to handle the huge number of cruise ship passengers who fly in and out of there every weekend. The lines are horrendous, especially now with the extra security in place. Plan on spending 2-4 hours in line.

I have never had to wait longer than 40-45 minutes to get through security at FLL. They are having some growing pains and are in the midst of a big renovation, but MIA has ALWAYS been a giant pain. It's like entering another country....and good luck if you don't speak Spanish!

Ask the hotel you're staying at what options they know of. Also, the FLL website lists some options for ground transportation. I have a quote from one limo company for $69 + gratuity for March (2 people, from FLL to Doubletree Surfcomber), but I think there are cheaper options.

I got off the Century in FLL last Sat. Caught an 11am flight. Therefore, I don't agree with the last couple of posters. I'd say that was pretty easy with disembarkation and getting the flight out.
Personally if I were cruising out of Miami, I'd fly into Miami, though.
Just my opinion!
Happy cruising!!
