pre-cruise hotel

We will be going on a Mexican Riviera cruise in November and will fly to Los Angeles the day before the ship departs. Any suggestions as to hotels that would have a shuttle service to the Port in San Pedro? Or should we just get a hotel near the air port? Also, how far in advance should we make reservation? Thanks.

I am cruising myself to Hawaii from Los Angeles in November. I spent some time researching the web for hotels and only found the shuttle services are within the airport area. I would reserve asap, if you change your mind there is ususally no cancellation charges up to a few days before unless you have an internet special non-refundable deal.

No hotels near the port have shuttles to the airport, that is too far ut.
From/to the airport either take a cab (about $ 50.- one way) or use superhuttle.

hey rockybob..we are booked on the diamond princess in april 08 and are flying into lax 3 days prior..we will be staying at the LAX MARRIOTT which has a free shuttle from airport to hotel and princess has free shuttle to pier and back.on the morning of cruise you leave your bags in room and they take care of them for you, you don`t see them again until they arrive in your stateroom.the shuttle drops you off at the pier and you go right in to check in and you are on board and in your cabin pretty fast..If you book this through princess the package is $69 pp,includes your room and transportation to and from airport..

I don't know about hotels as I live in Southern CA but for those flying in I would suggest flying into Long Beach airport instead of LAX if possible. Long Beach airport is small and EZ. LAX is huge and a zoo! One of the worst airports IMO.
