Misty Fjords Seaplane Recommendations

Hello -

I will be heading to Ketchikan via Princess cruise in late May 2008 and am considering taking a seaplane tour. I'm curious if anyone has any suggestions/recommendations/comments on the following companies:

* Alaska Seaplane Tours
* Misty Fjords Air
* Southeast Aviation

Thanks in advance.

I have flown with Southeast Aviation and Island Wings several times, which I highly recommend equally. I have also flown with Taquan and ProMech.

Hi BudgetQueen -

Thanks for the response.. I have one question regarding the Island Wings flight. The website states that there is a 35-minute stopover. I don't believe the other air flights do this.. do you find this made the experience better?

Stopover???? You mean landing?? Just about all the operators do.

In 2004, we used Southeast Aviation because there was a 2-for-1 coupon in the Toursaver Coupon book. However, I just did a quick search and did not see them listed in the current book. They were quite good, but I'm sure Island Wings is also.

Yes, Island Wings advertises on their website a 35-minute stop where they actually land and you can get off the plane. Is this not true?

It's true. We have flown with Michelle of Island Wings and had a great experience. She lands, as do many of the others, on a lake and pulls the plane close to shore so everyone can get out and walk around.

Of my three floatplane adventures, she was the best and we are booked with her again in June.

Thanks BudgetQueen & kfusto -

I think I'm going to try IslandWings and see how it goes.
