Providencia Island (Isla Providencia), Columbia

We are planning a snorkeling trip to Providencia. Through our research we have discovered the best side of the island for snorkeling (east). And the only hotel that has superb snorkeling in front is Posada Coco Bay on the eastern coast of Providencia. So I thought I would ask if anyone: Has stayed at Posada Coco Bay or do you know someone who has? We have questions about the rooms; how far of a walk is it to a good restaurant and a grocery store. How is the snorkeling, etc? I will try to post my email on my profile.

Best regards, Sue

I stayed at Cabanas Miss Mary and they were excellent. Providencia is small, you can rent a moped cheaply and travel to wherever you want to snorkel.

lacasaamarilla, how did you book with miss mary? also, can you tell me if you took a flight or the catamaran to providencia? i tried calling the catamaran company and am having a hard time getting through to find out their most current schedule.

how many days do you recommend on the island? we are thinking 4....

We flew into Providencia on the SEARCA flight from San Andres. I have not heard great things about the open water crossing from SA to Prov. Booking is always difficult in Prov as communication is poor and people are on "island" time. I am not suggesting you do this, but, when I went I just winged it and went to the tourist office at the small airport in Prov and got them to call around and negotitate and book a room!
