Scuba Diving Training on Guanaja Island, Guanaja Island Club

After researching almost all of the dive shops on Guanaja, I selected The Guanaja Island Club as my top choice based on great reviews, PADI and PDIC; I sent an email to reserve a space at the resort and received an email back immediately. I continued to coordinate my arrival time with Brian, the Diving course director at the resort. I was impressed when Carolina, the owner met me at the airport when I arrived on the island! We proceeded to travel back to the resort by boat, Talk about service!

The Guanaja Island Club offers a wonderful service at affordable prices, offering a family-like and caring touch in all exchanges. My Instructor Brian was professional and fun and I learned both PDIC courses that I took (Open Water and Advanced) quickly and efficiently. By the end of the 2nd day I was confidently setting up my dive equipment, doing buddy checks, and excitedly and confident.

Brian and Carolina welcome those staying at the Resort and diving into their family and their children are a delight.

After a dive it was not uncommon to come back to a dock with all of the dive staff and visiting divers sitting together on the dock, which they turned into a bar and grab a beer with instructors and students alike. A wonderful experience!

If you want more than the typical and want to get to know Guanaja and the people who live there a little better, I highly recommend diving and staying at the Guanaja Island Club. You can always head to the all night parties at the Island House a short walk down from the Guanaja Island Club and you can take the boat bar cruise, they call it the” Honky Tonk Cruise”, a tour which they start around 9 or 10 at night and cruise to different watering holes around the island. Wow! this is something I have never experienced and it was a highlight of the week’s activities.

Hi Gina;

We were trying to book a vacation to Guanaja Island Club though a Honduran tour company but they were so unorganized we just e-mailed the resort directly and booked it ourselves. Good move! Can't wait to get there. We are booked for Diving and a good time nest week for the Guanaja Carnival. Will write later and tell all about it.

I have to disagree. I would never go to this place again or recommend it to anyone. I booked it for 12 days and spent 3 there. I am a very tolerant person and have stayed in some crazy places but this was unbelievable. This place is a total scam. They refuse to give me any part of my money back and if you book here, you will be wishing you listened to me and stayed away. This place used to be called "End of the World" and they renamed themselves after all the bad reviews. Don't be scammed like I was.

Oh my gosh...the original post can't be legit !! It is obvious that the few rave reviews on Guanaja Island Club are being written by the owner or someone that writes the words for the owner. Bo's Island House, G&G Clearwater Paradise, Graham's Place, and Guanaja Caribbean Cottages all get reviews averaging 4.5 - 5 on another travel forum. On that forum, Guanaja Island Club averages 1.4. And the numbers are accurate. You should avoid Guanaja Island Club like the plague!! Guanaja is a great destination. Don't ruin your trip by staying at Guanaja Island Club !!!

I just finished a 7 night stay at G&G's Clearwater Paradise Resort on the north shore of Guanaja and it was fantastic. In all my research of places to stay on Guanaja, Guanaja Island Club never came up on any other site. This is the first time I've heard it mentioned! I can't say anything good or bad about Guanja Island Club because I didn't stay there, but I WILL say that I just spent 8 days on the island and got a good idea of the main dive operations around the island. Guanja Island Club was never mentioned.
