Thank you. Our ship is due in port at 0800 and UAL has a flught back to ORD at 1100 which I think is cutting very close but their next flight is 1700. Seems like we should take the later flight but it is such a long wait.

Larry, if you do the "walk off" from the ship, then you will be the first group off the ship, probably before 9, or even 8:30. Hop on a cab and you should be at the airport by 9:30 giving you at least an hour and a half. Risky, but possible.

Note: just in case, walk off means you take all the luggage with you and don't leave them out for the porters the night before.

Option is to book the 1700 flight, if you get to the airport real early, then see if you can pay a change fee for the earlier flight.

I would just get off the boat, rent a car, drive to Sandkey, stay a few days andn head home to ORD. Why rush after a relaxing holiday?

We may have to. What can we do with the bags? Can they be stored at the airport?

Jacketwatch, you possibly could have curbside check-in at the airport. I am not sure about lockers. When I was at Tampa's airport last year, I did curbside check-in but there was a line. After the dropping off the luggage I think I had to take a train to the terminal. I did like the places to eat and shop at the airport. But the next time on the ship, I will sleep a little later, eat and wait for the crowd to die down to get my luggage. My cruise is not until December 28th.

So if our flight is at 1700 how soon can we check in?

I need to find how how late we can can get off the ship. If its in the afternoon we may as well wait on board.

You can check your bags up to four hours before your flight.

We just did this a couple of weeks ago, taxis were readily available at the port and it is a flat rate of $25 to the airport and only about a 15-20 minute ride.

The Tampa cruise terminal is located on the Ybor channel downtown, close to Ybor City. It is about five miles from Tampa International Airport. There's a lot to see and do around the Tampa cruise terminal complex.

So we did self disembarkation and got off a little after 0900. I had a car ready for us and as it was a Sunday we got to the airport in a breeze. We had plenty of time. .
