(Caution--venting ahead. You may want to skip to the next post).
Of course she'll sue the cruise line.
This is America, so we sue whomever has the deepest pockets. AND the cruise line will settle because they don't want the story to stay in the press for three years as the trial progresses.
AND we'll never fix the system because most of our politicians and lobbyists are lawyers themselves, and the American Trial Lawyers' association is the single largest contributor to the Democratic Party. (Not that this is really a partisan issue--plenty of blame to go around on this topic...).
Amd, yes, I do feel slightly better. Thanks for asking.

Marigold:
Out of curiousity, I did look it up.
Of course you are correct. Apparently one only uses "whom" when referring to someone in the main clause who is not the subject of the sentence. I did not know this, and I think, still don't really understand it.
For your demonstrated mastery & retention of 8th grade English, I hearby award you a copy of Strunk & White's "The Elements of Style" (missing the cover and chapters 1-4) and convey upon you the official unofficial title of Fodor's Grammar Police Enforcer.
Please have all of the posts in this forum for the past three years corrected in red pen and on my desk by Friday.
Cheers!
