Cab fare from IST to Hag Sofia/Topkapi area

Hello: Does anyone know the cost for cabs from IST (Ataurk intl.) to the above area which is also close to the port? We are looking at hotels in that area, one of which quoted me a price of around 25 Euros for their own transportation. This seems reasonable but is a cab for the airport less, about the same, more ? Thank you.

Whatever you do, jacket - get a pre-paid cab rom the [rather conusing] airport. You'll find many booths. But just do it from the hotel - no drama - I don't think you'll save anything at the airport and you'll run the risk of getting my last Turkish taxi driver.

DON'T just hail a cab. Trust me.

Many of the hotels in Sultanhamet area offer limo service if you are staying 3 nights. You might ask the hotel you choose if they recommend a cab. It keeps the good will up and you never know you might get a perk. Any idea where you will be staying yet..?? There are many reasonable places and comfortable and very competative hotels to choose from. we had a free shuttle from Task Konak and were more than satisfied..IST is awesome!!! Backpackers tours are also outstanding, resonable, personable, and professional. Our tour guide, Deliet, was a delight!!!

Dogster believe me I trust you. I'll do just that. Somehow I'll bet their is quite a tale about your last Turkish driver. We are leaning towards staying at the Istanbul Prince hotel. The reviews we saw are pretty good, esp. the most recent ones. I have been in contact with them thru their website too and their replies have been very polite. Its also close to the pier and is 18 km. from the airport. Cheers, Larry

Jacketwatch,

My blood pressure has not yet come down from our last taxi to the airport in Istanbul. That was in 2005! We have been very happy with www.istanbulairportservice.com. The fee is 20 Euros/person from the airport to Sultanhamet. That includes having a driver waiting for you outside baggage claim. From your proposed hotel to the cruise port, the fee is 25 euros a person.

Ahhh, I see you had the same driver as I did, Jeff. And yes, jacket - there is, indeed a story to tell. Unfortunately too filthy to tell in here.

Asking you to tone it down would be like watching "Pulp Fiction" with all the cuss words bleeped out.
