Wondering about Swept Away
My fiance and I are traveling to SA in late December for our honeymoon. Does anyone know what the weather will be like at this time of year? Also, will it be very crowded? I have read that a lot of people feel that SA is very romantic. What about the resort makes it feel that way? Is there ever a time that we can have dinner on the beach or a sunset cruise? Do all of the rooms look the same on the inside? Did it get hot with all of the screens in the room? I have tons of questions!!! Thanks

I stayed at Swept Away last month. Enjoyed it very much. It was operating at 100% capacity, but amazingly never felt crowded, so I wouldn't worry about that. While we were there they set up tables on the beach one night for a Jamaican bbq, and one of their restaurants (Sea Grapes) is right next to the beach, close enough so that although your toes aren't in the sand, they are within 3 feet of it. =-) The rooms do look similar to other rooms of the same class. The only difference I saw in the Atrium rooms was that some had hammocks and some didn't. We asked for a hammock and then never used it. =-) Sunset cruises (booze cruises really) go out every other day or so. We didn't go on one because it gets pretty crowded, and for us there was nothing more romantic than sitting on the beach with the sunset right in front of us. Finally, it never got too hot in our rooms, as when we were there we would close the wooden blinds and pump up the a/c. A couple of nights I had to turn the a/c down because it got too cold! Happy to answer any other questions you have.

What would you say on average the range in age of guests was? Mostly 20's? 30's? Any 40's or 50's? Also, how is the weather in Negril in July? Just like anywhere else in the Caribbean? How far is the drive from Montego Bay? Are there any other very intimate and exclusive AI's you would recommend besides Swept Away? Thanks!

When I was at Swept Away, the ages varied from early 30's to 50's - or maybe that's who we hung out with because we are 40's. I think it is the lush foliage that adds to the romance - you can get lost in it and I did lose my way to my room a few times. I liked having a ground floor room so they could leave my breakfast on the verandah and I didn't have to answer the door. If you want to really indulge, take a look at Moon Dance villas - you get your own chef and bartender. I looked at the place in april and it is beautiful - different from SA in that you are closer to town so you see more Jaimaican culture - which I love and you can walk to all types of bars and nightclubs. www.moondancevillas.com It is just as beautiful as the website. While the beach is nice there, not as nice as SA because it is smaller and there are motorized water sports allowed.

Well the crowed at swept away I found where mostly older couples. For a younger crowd I would say Couples, which is the sister resort, I think the people are somewhat younger. I dont know for sure seeing that I was only at Swept Away, but his is what I hear. I went with my children and they are in there mid 20s. They enjoyed it very much but the age group was not there for them. Hope this helps
