Besides a pool and or spa, what specifically is important to you? After renting a gorgeous villa in ST.John our priorities have changed and we are renting a different place this year. Do you want to be close to Cruz Bay? Do you want quiet surroundings and don't mind driving a bit further to have that? What is your budget? Do you want to be able to hear the ocean? How close do you want to be to the North Shore beaches? Answering these questions will narrow down your search.

We would like to hear the ocean, have nice decor in the villa, not be too close to other villas (and we would drive to have a little more seclusion.) I don't mind which location we are near, Cruz Bay or the north beaches. We will have a car and discover the island. I would like to make sure that we can get to the villa by road, I have heard that some of the villas you can't.

http://www.windspree.com/ seems to have vacation homes that offer more seclusion as they are closer to Coral Bay than Cruz Bay. I have read rave reviews on Villa Splendore & Argonauta at http://www.vacationvistas.com/ Another villa agency http://www.seaviewhomes.com/ is a popular one because their selection also includes more secluded villas that are close to the ocean. One of my favorite villa sites is http://www.onlinevacations.com/ because you can search by location. It lists if a villa is Oceanfront or beachfront, whether its close to Cruz bay (busier) or Coral Bay (more laid back). Last year we rented a huge villa with a large pool and incredible views. We had a great time, but this year we are rented a villa that you can hear the ocean from and has a more ?tropical feel?. We are foregoing the big pool, AC and views for this but couldn?t be more excited. For now, we prefer being closer to Cruz bay so we rented closer to town. When you have decided or narrowed down your choices, go to http://www.caribline.com/cgi-bin/agn...bbeanAgnesHTML and ask for specific opinions or reviews on your choice. I can talk all day about St.John so I think I?ll stop myself now!

We stayed at Drakes Lookout last February with another couple (we're in our 30's - left the little ones at home!). The view was without doubt the most intoxicating thing I've ever seen. I would go back in a heartbeat! Pluses: beautifully deocorated (tropical theme); comfortable; small pool; great covered deck w/wonderful view - PERFECT for 2 couples. The only possible negative was that it's located up on the side of a "cliff" - the first several drives up - road wasn't paved - think rocks - in our jeep had me biting my nails (the guys loved it) but it was DEFINITELY worth it at the top....I've never seen so many stars in the sky at night....can't say enough wonderful things. Location was in quaint coral bay - close to restaurants; fairly short drive to beaches. We rented through greatcaribbeangetaways.com
great family run business.

Glad to hear Drakes was great. We were trying to decide between Drakes and Raj Mahal and decided on Raj. Now I'm wondering if we made the right decision. We'll be there the end of March.

Hey, I am one of the owners of Drakes Lookout. Glad to hear you liked it. We love it and think there is no better view in the world. You will be glad to know the road is now paved. It is now an easy drive up the mountain. Hope to have you back.

It is PERFECT for two couples because they are actually seperate units. They just built a pool as well! We are going to St. John and March and just booked it for ourselves

I just went on line and your place is beautiful! Do you rent by the day as well? We are getting married April 22nd in St. John and have already rented a 4 bedroom villa for our family (April 16-23). However, my fiance and I are looking to rent something on our own for a couple of days (the night of our wedding and a couple days later) as beign with our entire family in the 4 bedroom villa is going to be too much!!!
Thanks!

I know this is an older thread, but I have a question about Drake's Lookout. I am going there this July 2006 with another couple. Are the bedrooms still without AC? I didn't realize this until I had already paid my down payment. Also, do we have to have a 4 wheel drive or will a fullsize vehicle do? Thanks so much!

Hi! My husband and I are looking at renting Drake's Lookout next year for our vacation and I was curious about the AC as well.

If you find out this information, would you please let me know?

Thanks!
