Westin, Breakers Cay, island view?

We are on the 10th floor with an island view. Aug 6-14. It it worth another $60 per night for Ocean view?

What are the odds of getting upgraded to Ocean view once we get there if it's not booked? I always hear of people getting free upgrades, but they always tell me you can have it but you have to pay LOL Do I need to slip the person at the front desk some money? A $20, a $50? I feel like Jmaes Bond doing that! LOL - sort of embarassing!

Slipping them something won't help a bit. Since it is low season the resort may be sparsely populated and if you ask they might upgrade you for free but I wouldn't hold my breath. Since you are on the 10th floor, which is the top floor of Breaker's Cay, your island view is not really bad. Ocean view is better but if you have an island view the higher you are the better it is. If you can't get the upgrade push them for a room number toward the Manor House, where you will check in. The closer you are in Breaker's Cay to the Manor House the better the island view since it tends to eliminate a view of the commercial building roofs and the casino roof on the resort grounds. Hope this helps.

You can check out more on Our Lucaya and the island itself at my amateur website. www.fortunecity.com/oasis/bahia/443/index.htm

There are hundreds of pictures there taken over the years, a good many of Our Lucaya, and some detailed trip reports.

Danny - thank you! Your pictures showed me exactly what I needed to know. You have a few of the marina/island view - not to pretty - but now I know what to expect and for about $500 less that is ok with me.
