Updated Rooms at Little Dix Bay
I read that LDB is doing a renovation of all the accommodations. Has anyone stayed in one of the updated rooms? How about one of the brand new Junior Suites? How do they rate on a scale of 1 to 10 in terms of understated caribbean luxury? Overall, which rooms are most desirable in terms of 1) the look of the room itself; 2) privacy; and value?
Thanks.
Thanks.

You can go to the rosewood website - then go to little dix portion - and you can pull up a "pdf" map of the resort with room numbers. Room numbers 101-108 have been demolished (that's where the new junior suites are going in). I had emailed LDB this week about their location and the location of the pool - none of them are done yet. We like staying at either end of the resort - we usually get a premium room or beachfront cottage (note that the two rooms at the west end 121 and 122 are considered beachfront cottages but are not nearly as close to the beach as say, room 7-8 - same room category) but you're never but a few footsteps - but if you really want to be on the beach it is those rooms between the dining areas and the dock that really seem to be the closest - but also, you will have people around you as well. We were in one of those rooms last time and liked it as it was close to the beach and the children's grove for our daughter. we've been there a half dozen times - and almost hardly count as repeat guests - be sure and utilize the spa and the sugar mill (no kids dine in the sugar mill). we like the family friendly attitude (but were in your shoes once). I don't think there'd be a lot of kids in November - aren't really that many in summer - I suspect that it's full of kids at Christmas but I could be wrong. We look forward to the renovated rooms - but we always liked the old ones - the new suites sound nice as there are tubs and showers - the showers aren't particularly large in the existing rooms - and they're not chock full of marble/gold faucets, etc. There are a couple of travel clubs that would get you an automatic room upgrade (Andrew Harper Q Club) which might make it worth the club fee - (you get a small room discount too) - but there's no absolute guarantee of an upgrade. I'd book at least a premium room. Some of the rooms are on "stilts" so you have to go up a flight of stairs - if that sounds unappealing, be sure and request a ground level room.

I was in LDB for our honeymoon in November and the rooms are lovely. The pool area was not completed when we left. They were well on there way though. The rooms were very nice and roomy as were the bathrooms. The only thing that was weird was there was no dresser. We had been traveling for a week before LDB and I didnt like leaving my clothes in the suitcase or just stacking them on a shelf in the closet. Maybe it was just our room. We were in room 7 I think and it was a hike to the lobby and to eat but it was nice to be so far away from everyone else. it was a very short walk to the beach.

I took some shots of the room at LDB, as well as were the pool is being built next to the main dining area. Hope this helps
