Trip in Feb....best bet for warm weather?
Hi,
My sister and I are planning a sister-bonding trip in February. I was thinking Bahamas, but I'm afraid it won't be warm enough? Any advice on best island for best weather in February?
Thanks!

I would avoid the Bahamas in Feb. The Cancun area and Turks & Caicos would be marginal. Warmest areas include Jamaica and the more southern islands (e.g. St. Lucia, Grenada, Barbados, Trinidad & Tobago, Aruba, Bonaire, Curacao). The rest are warm enough for most people's tastes in Feb.

My husband and I did Nassau one year around the end of January and it wasn't that warm, in fact the nights were downright cool. We could only swim in the pool one day of the whole trip and even then we were the only ones crazy enough to do it. The week before we arrived was apparantly even cooler. Last year it was a toss up between trying Cuba for the first time or sticking to the Southern Caribbean. After careful review of the weather patterns I opted for Antigua. We made the right move, I had heard that Cuba turned out not to be suitable beach weather at the time we travelled. We on the other hand had gorgeous weather every day.

As for Cayman, the highest temp EVER recorded there in February was 88; average daily high is 80. Cayman only averages high 80's (over 85) in July-Aug-Sept.
Nassau's average daily high in Feb is 77 with a low of 65.
Aruba: avg high 85, low 76.
Jamaica (MoBay): 82, 72.
Barbados: 82, 74.
Antigua: 82, 73.
Trinidad: 86, 71.
Cancun: 82, 68.

Go to the Lesser Antilles. The Dutch islands down there rule. I'm a diver. It is where the ocean meets the desert.Just watch out for those wild donkeys, if you rent a car.I love Aruba, Bonaire, and Curacao because it is only like 50 miles off the coast of Venezuela. THAT'S SOUTH! THAT'S WARM! Like 84 deg. and 79 deg. water...Always a breeze!

We went to Aruba this past February, and the weather there was just perfect. Less hot than in the summer, I even had to buy a long sleeved vest for the evenings... And that wonderful breeze of course. Best climate in the Caribbean I think, and we have been to many of the islands.
