Staying in St. Thomas - need side trip recommendations

Hello fellow travelers...my sisters and I are traveling to St. Thomas and will be there for 7 days at the end of May. Looking for side trips (an overnight would be fine) to other islands... we are definately planning to see St. John, and go to Charolette Armalie... wondering if a trip to Virgin Gorda for an overnight is a must -see?

Also, looking for recommendations for where to celebrate their birthdays? I would like to surprise them with a nice dinner out or an adventure? Would love recommendations for dining at other islands as well! Thanks so much!

I would highly recommend visitng St. John for at least a day. The island is beautiful. You can take the ferry from either Charlotte Amalie or Red Hook over to the island. There is a car ferry available if you guys rented a car.

For an amazing dinner in St. Thomas, check out Herve. It is located in downtown Charlotte Amalie on a hill overlooking the bay. Scenery was great and the food was outstanding.

For a fabulous birthday dinner, I recommed Havana Blue at The Marriott Morningstar. St John, Jost Van Dyke, Water Island or Virgin Gorda are all nice for day trips. Just depends on what you are looking for.

Herve is closed, in its place is a new restaurant operated by the chef from Herve's.

A day trip to see the BVI on a charter like Pirate's Penny or Stormy Petrel, Breakaway or another boat would be fun.

For a very special dinner, try Old Stone Farmhouse.

St John is a must....by far my favorite island anywhere. Yes there are touristy areas, but you can get away from the crowds with ease here, and the beaches are magazine cover quality!! Rent a jeep on STT, and take the care ferry over, and explore the less travelled beaches....you won't regeret it.
