Attention all of you geniuses:
Jana is full of hot air. There are tons of inconsistencies in her original post. Very little she wrote makes any sense at all. And her latest post claiming that the Westin ferry was going to transport her rental vehicle to St John is ludicrous. The Westin ferry is a people only ferry.
Equally ridiculous is the post from the individual claiming to be "Amy" the fired receptionist at the Westin.
Don't you people recognize trolls and troublemakers when you see them? It' s really a shame this board isn't monitored by someone at Fodors, this kind of trash is a waste of cyberspace.

Mary: You make too many assumptions without knowing any of the facts. There is no way you can tell for sure that Amy isn't actually Amy. There is now way that you can tell for sure that Jana is full of it. If so, you must be a real psychic. You remember what Tony Randall said about "assume." You make an "ass" out of "u" and "me." It's ironic, you're really the one who's the troll.

OK. This is the real Jana. The last poster who called herself/himself "Jana" was NOT me. I was not planing to bring my St. Thomas car over to St. John on Westin's ferry.

Yes, I wish, Fodor's would come up with some form of registration of all users of this board, so that everyone can use only one nickname -- their own !

What I wanted to do here on this board was to share my story -- which I did. However, to continue this exchange, it would seem, I need to hire a lawyer ! -- which is what I will not do -- nor will I continue this discussion because it seems it is getting out of hand big time. I may not be a professional writer, but I do not see too many inconsistencies in my story....Any way, please do not bother to "attack" me anymore as I will not be responding anymore. Just let this thread die in peace.

To all those whose vacations are ahead of them: best of luck and I hope you won't have to deal with the sort of unpleasant and stressful situations that we had to deal with. St. John is a very beautiful island.

Good Bye.

Jana

1)Jana, rememmber where you were. You were in the Caribbean. Things are different there.
2)Good point for using a TA.
3)Amy may have been a bitch, but the only way she could ruin 2 days of your trip was if you let her.
4)I don't know of anyone who hasn't had the Budget dilemma at one time or another.
5)Chill and go with the flow.

We have had similar experiences, one being Great Bay in St. Maartin. We had prepaid our room 6 months before we got there and upon checkout we were presented a bill for the entire amount. No amout of talking would convince that nasty one (maybe it was Amy's sister) that we had already paid. We were not permitted to leave until the amount was charged to our Visa. When we got home I called my TA and got the money back right away. We were also asked if we had the credit card statement. These people must carry aroound 6 month old bills and expect everyone else to too.

Your best recourse is a travel board like this where you can alert peole to these type of activities. Unfortunately a lot of the time people who have had good experiences at the same place will call you an outright liar. It's very frustrating. Don't let this sour you on the islands.

Just had quite a good time reading the post from Jana re the Westin. We have been to St. John 3 times and stayed at the Westin. (it was better when it was a Hyatt) The last time we had a very rude person check us out at the desk -- rude for no reason. I was angry after a short 10 minute check-out process with none of the other headaches expressed by Jana. The bottom line is, when you are paying to stay at a resort, part of what you are paying for is a stressless vacation. This can only happen if the employees have a good attitude!! I hope the Westin keeps track of posts like these. On a positive note, however, we rented with Budget all 3 times and had great service!
