Secrets to Cheap Airfare!!
Hi all!
We're (2 adults) are planning a trip to the Caribbean USVI and we are cheap as heck! So I'm looking for advice from fellow travellers on locating cheap airfare. I don't really want to deal with bucket shops or anything like that (unless they are very reliable and very cheap).
It seems like now-a-days on the web you should be able to find anything.
It looks like Feb to April is high season, so we may want to avoid that. May or June would be fine. January is a little close so I'd like to avoid that month.
Any ideas at all-- websites, special deals, times to go or leave, or even just personal experiences. I'm looking for some of you with more experience to help us learn the ropes!

I've been blown away by the last minute specials featured on Travelocity.com. I've done a few and they've worked out without a problem. You get great airfare and hotel or car dependent on the package. All you have to do is be flexible. May and June is fine, but as long as you avoid those high traffic holiday periods, you will do well in every other month too.

Sign up for all the alerting services on the internet. Travelocity has one - not sure about Orbitz. The individual airlines have some too. You put in your destination and get an email when the fare changes. I also check www.smartertravel.com and www.travelzoo.com for deals.

I love cartera's idea - it has worked for me too. Also, sign up for web emails from the airlines that fly to your destination - I think it would be USAir and American. And always check early Wednesday mornings for the first sale announcements.
