best airline rates on internet

Anybody have any idea as to what day of the week/time of day you can find the best airline rates? I know they frequently change them and I was wondering when I would have the best shot at a bargain.

Some people say 12:01 a.m. but I think it is best to check every 48 hours. Know your dates and when a good fare comes along, grab it.

Go to travelocity and sign up for their fare-watcher service. They will email you each time the fare between destinations you choose changes, including the time they found the changed fare. You will find that changes occur at all times. There are many airlines and they certainly don't gather at midnight (midnight where?, one might ask) and decide to change all fares.

Right now, FYI, for US/Europe flights, SAS is having its annual sale, with their lowest fare of the year offered, one destination a day for 24 days.

I've been lucky twice so far within last year, both times very early on Wednesday morning, once domestic, once international.

Usually the best rates on in the middle of the week. Also, the best rates are for the upcoming weekend if you are the last-minute person. There are many airlines that have specials sent out via email every Tuesday or Wednesday. I was thinking about starting a website that had those rates published, but don't know if that's illegal to have one site that had all the sales. I haven't seen a website like that yet, and it'd be easy to put something like that together.

I recommend SideStep. It's a program you install that searches for the BEST fare regardless of which travel website you use.

Very helpful...

I just booked 2 SEA-FLL, MIA-SEA tickets. I was on all the sites, including sidestep, kayak, hotwire, etc. AA web pricing was the best of the lot, and better than the other airlines that I saw. Delta was a few dollars cheaper as was NW, but I do not want to get stranded on Delta and my NW experiences have not been memorable.
