Sargasso Seaweed

I have read several articles on the "Sargasso seaweed problem". They claim St Maarten/St Martin beaches (Orient Beach and those beaches on the french side have been affected. Maho and the Dutch side seems to be unaffected. Can anyone verify this.

I presume that you haven't read my response to your question which you posted yesterday in the thread relating to Dollar/Thrifty Car Rental !

I live above Orient Bay, and walk my dog on the beach early every morning, when I watch the seaweed being carefully removed by the employees of the various beach bars, or by a guy driving a John Deere tractor with a large comb behind it.

The worst affected area appears to be Anse Marcel, in front of the (currently closed) Radisson Hotel, and Le Domaine.

The Dutch side seems to have escaped.
