Road from MoBay to Negril

We're returning to Jamaica for the first time since 2001 and always took the plane from Montego Bay to Negril in our previous trips. My husband gets no sleep the night before, as he closes his business for the season, so I don't want to put him through too much on our way down. Now that the road has been completed, I was wondering how long and how comfortable the ride will be. Swept Away provides the bus transfers. Thanks in advance.

Hi,

I traveled on the road in August of this year and the road is in good condition and it took about 20 to 30 minutes if so much. I drove so I wasnt really timing it but I know that I got to Negril fairly quickly.

We were at Beaches Negril in May & the ride was fine. It took more like an hour though. It was fun to see the countryside & we did stop at a place along the way for jerk chicken. I didn't include that in the drive time estimate. I think we were steady riding for at least an hour. Tell him to get a Red Stripe & kick back for the ride.

It is a beautiful new road, and it takes about 45 minutes from the airport in Mo-Bay to the door of Swept Away. A lovely and scenic drive right by the water...

Just came back from Riu Negril. The ride from MoBay took 1.5 hour on a bus. I think we'll take a plane next time.

From the airport to Negril took us about an hour, but the reverse trip only took 30 minutes. We enjoyed the drive, as there was plenty to see. We would definitely take the bus again.
