Transportation from MBJ to Negril
I was wondering what the best way to get from Montego Bay to Negril is. We are spending a week at The Caves and the soon to be wife is weary of smaller, non-commercial airline, planes. Any help would be appreciated.

Not much choice if you knock out small airplanes. That is the quickest, easiest method of transferring between Mobay and Negril. The only alternatives are the tour busses ( normally included in your package) 1 1/2 to 2 hours over sometimes marginal roadways, and hiring a private taxi. Cost ???? Tiverton have some recommendations for you for a taxi. It might be expensive but it would give you the best "most authentic" view of the island.

Yes, this is likely a turboprop flight. I haven't taken it in years [before Air Jamaica took over the route] but the flight only took about 15 minutes and cost $50 each way. Back then, you and your luggage had to get onto a big scale together, so they knew how much fuel to put in the plane
I'm sure it's better now.

Even with a better road, the tour bus drivers in my experience don't always make the trip as expeditiously as they could - some of them like to stop at friends' businesses along the way, hoping you as a tourist would buy their stuff. I would still allow 2 hours for a ground transfer.

Not Sure what JUTA stands for. But,it is a transpotation service. They run shuttle buses from Mobay to Negril. Why don't you jump over to the message board at Negril.com and post your question. There are plenty of Negril experts that can help you with this and any other questions you have.

JUTA whose desk you'll find just before you exit customs to the outside taximen/driver waiting area at MoBay airport is a long-time, very reputable Jamaican tourist transport company with good drivers and quite cheap fares;they go anywhere on island. You may get the van all to yourselves or be sharing it with other passengers, depending on arrivals and business that day...
