Rain in Aruba

My wife and I are going to Aruba next week. Being a dry island I did not think that continuous rain would be a problem. Unfortunatley, the forecast is for rain most days.

Is the rain usually steady all day or in short spurts. Your answer will certainly dispel our gloom.

Thanks David

David - We were in Aruba from 11/14 thru 11/28 and it must have rained 10 of the 14 days. Most of the rain was heavy to moderate and continuous; canceling some of our planned sight-seeing activities. While I was assured by the locals this type of weather was very rare, it does happen. Hope you have better luck than we did.

We were there 2 or 3 years ago in January. It rained everyday but very briefly, usually once or twice a day. The sky would suddenly get very dark & it would absolutely pour for 10-20 minutes. Didn't really bother us at all, oftentimes we would just stay in the pool as we were already wet! As teh previous poster said, I think steady rain is pretty rare. Good luck, I'm sure you'll have a great time!

We were in Aruba around the same time a few years back and didn't have rain any day we were there. Whenever I travel to the Caribbean, I check the weather websites and they show rain, but when we get there it is sunny skies. I hope this happens for you.

I just got back from a cruise that stopped in Aruba last Friday. Aruba is known to have a summer shower. It was light and lasted less than 5 min before the sun came out again. I really do not think you will have problems. We were laying in the sun on Palm Beach and my nieces and nephews were snorkeling by the lighthouse where it didn't rain at all.
Don't worry......

We went to Aruba last March and in 8 days we had rain for 5 minutes one morning. Our forecast for our trip was also predicted to be rain the entire trip!
I am surprised at all of the reports of steady rain and I am sure it happens, but Aruba is known for it's dry arid days. Don't worry about it now. Go and enjoy and hopefullly you will have better luck than the previous posters!

When you say "the forecast" if you are looking at "on-line" sites" like weather.com you should know that they are notoriously inaccurate, in fact if you checked them every day for a year you'd swear the sun never shines in the Caribbean as they always predict showers. That's because you are looking at weather for the tropics and that means it will rain somewhere on the island for sometime during any 24 hour period. These showers are usually very localized and as others have said last only a few minutes. While no one can guarantee what will happen next next week chances are you will have more need for sunblock then an umbrella.
