Quick island getaway
I am looking for a quick, reasonably priced getaway for my husband and I around the beginning of August. We would love to try an all-inclusive for the first time. Will be 3-4 night trip, so don't want to go to terribly far, thinking Bahamas, maybe Mexico. Any suggestions???

Our first AI experience was at SuperClub Breezes on Cable Beach in Nassau. I would rate the resort 3 star, but we really did enjoy our 3 visits there. The beach is wonderful, and the staff does a fairly good job of entertaining you (day and night). However, if you don't want to join in the activities you are perfectly free to do your own thing (no pressure).
A hotel that we stayed at on Paradise Island was bought out by Rui Resorts and is now AI (it's right next to Atlantis). It was Sheraton when we were there. The beach is wonderful and beautiful. The hotel was very nice and it's been remodeled since we were there.
A place that we have not been to yet, but is on our list of places to try, is Sandals in Antigua. The pictures I've seen look very inviting and I've read good reviews. It may be worth a look-see.
The AI resort that we travel to now is Beaches in T&C. We go without children, like you would be doing, but the place has lots of kids there. You may not want that. Come to think of it, I believe Rui may have kids there too.
You can find all of these resorts on line. They are all resort chains.

Hop on a plane to Ft. Lauderdale or Miami with an American Eagle or Gulf Stream connection to Marsh Harbor, the capital of Abaco, an out island in the Bahamas. Take a cab from the tiny airport to the Conch Inn Marina and sip Bahama Mamas, Goombay Smashes, or Yellow Birds until the ferry boat takes you to Guana Cay, a Cay about 7 miles off of Abaco on the Sea of Abaco. Stay at the Dolphin Beach Resort, and enjoy 7 miles of pristine, often vacant, talcum powdered sand beaches. Robert

I've heard that the Sunscape Al in Tulum, Mexico (I believe it's 40 minutes away from Cancun airport) is good. The Riu resort chain is supposed to be a nice Al.
I know people that went to Aventura Spa Palace in the Riviera Maya part of Mexico and really liked it.
