non resort type hotels in Turks and Caicos
I am looking to vacation to Turks and Caicos sometime during late January, February or early March.
Last year we went to Tortolla and stayed at the Sugar Mill and loved it. The food was great, the people were terrific and we are looking for a similar atmosphere.
A hotel with great food, but not a resort type atmosphere. We don't need golf or spas or all those things. Just great beaches, nice rooms, etc
Any help would be appreciated.

Try the Coral Gardens, small, quaint and a great hotel. They have a webite if interested. Also thier restaurant is incredible (but when we went, they did not serve breakfast, we had a cab take us to the local supermarket fir stuff & we had ceral in the morning. We did not mind this, but they may now serve breakfast, I would check with them). Also, they have an incredible coral reef, right on their beach.

Many of the resorts on Provo are actually more condo-style. Some have spas and such, but they are really more home-like. Not at all the box-room / organized activites sort of places.
Try:
The Sands (our personal favorite)
Ocean Club & OC West
Coral Gardens
Royal West Indies
Sibonne (smaller, boutique style)
Point Grace

Why don't you look at a resort on one of TCI's other wonderful islands? Provo is beautiful, but most of the other islands are untouched and unspoiled. You will definetly find quiet sandy white beaches with crystal clear waters, and great people!

DEFINITELY check out Meridian CLub and Windmills for non-resort type hotels. They define seclusion and beautiful beaches. I think ScubaMom has a new-ish review of Meridian CLub on her website and that one or two issues ago Caribbean Travel & Life magazine did a small feature on Windmills.
