Mariotts in Carribean
Hi. I need some help, okay maybe a lot. I'm looking for a family friendly mariott, with nice pools and beach in the carribean. I'm looking at these sites and everything looks the same beach, pool. I'm not sure what to visit and not to. Any ideas?
Thank you so much for any reply,
Emily

The reason why the Marriot hotels look somewhat alike is that chain has hit upon a formula that works for them so all of their resorts tend to have the same type of facilities. If you want to go to the Caribbean and you want to stay at a Marriott you have the follopwing choices:
Cancun
Grand Cayman
Curacao
St. Kitts
St. Thomas
Aruba

I love Grand Cayman, but the beach at the Marriott can disappear at low tide. It's only a few steps from the beach to the shoreline.
The Marriotts in Aruba (timeshares) have very nice accommodations and pools. The beach is OK there, although it's very crowded during prime vacation weeks and a hike from the other hotels and town.

Thank you so much!!!!! I'm very interested in the Scrub Island Mairott but amafraid there is no beach in the picture there are just docked boats. Another favorite of mine is Surf City in Aruba. I like it, but am also afraid it might be too commercial and not enough beach. Ideas?

There are actually several beaches on Scrub Island and you are very close to many different islands in the BVI, many of which have excellent beaches and great snorkeling. It's a fairly family-friendly resort. It does have a big marina, but the whole island is the resort, so there are several beaches to choose from.

A recent poster had a terrible experience at The Scrub Island resort. If you look under "Scrub Island"you should find it. Not sure about the status, but she says that she and her husband were drugged at the pool. Hotel is in negotiations with them apparently. Believe me, I don't usually post this kind of thing, but in this case, buyer beware until the hotel has implemented further security measures. I want to add that I travel frequently, and know that this kind of thing can and unfortunately does happen elsewhere, but I would want this information given to me before deciding to stay there.
