looking for accommodations for two on Virgin Gorda
I am planning a trip with a special friend for late spring and am interested in finding accommodations for two near a good swimming beach. We would prefer to be able to cook some of our dinners rather than eat out every night. A pool is a must. Anyone have a great experience in Virgin Gorda that he or she would like to share with me?

If you can afford Mahoe, I think it beats anywhere else on the island. Late spring is off season, so rates ought to be not exhorbitant. The villas are all 3+ bedrooms and baths, but a number of them rent at a 2 person rate. Maybe Try Wimco rental co: it's well respected. But there are many other agencies also. Just google your query: the sights all have very good and detailed info, including good, accurate photos. (We thought the "real thing" was even better than the best photos.)

My husband and i are looking for the same, for summer of 07. Not really wanting to spend more than 200 a night. I mean, it's low season, and it's just the two of us, and were hardly ever in our room.
We will stay 5 nights in VG and 4 in Tortola at Sebastians on the beach.
Anyone know of anywhere like sebastians, but in VG? Or a litte guesthouse.
THAnks!

Pegprescott and tewels, have a look at Guavaberry Spring Bay. I haven't stayed there, but they are on my Virgin Gorda budget/someday list. Don't know if they have a pool tho...

In June, we stayed on Mahoe Bay at the Mango Bay Resort. There is no pool there, but just down the beach we could see the Mahoe Bay Villas, which looked extremely nice.... and they do have pools.
Mahoe Bay Beach is WONDERFUL for swimming and snorkeling.

Twels,
For less upscale lodging, might want to check out Fisher's Cove, Old Yard Village (used to be Old Yard Inn) or even Leverick Bay. Actually post season in the Spring, many of resort prices are around $200. I think even Mango Bay was just over $200 last March.

Thanks everyone. Good info.
I did a bit of surfing yesterday and
the ones that fit my criteria so far are:
1. Mango Bay
2. Guavaberry
3. Olde Yard Village
4. Fischers Cove (that one looks a bit scary)
Mango bay appeals to me the most so far. If anyone has stayed at one or two of these places, please advise. Seems like they are all similar in price. I really want to be on, or a short walk to the water. Absolutely have to have A/C in the bedroom. I also dont want to be too isolated, as we like to have dinner out usually.
Did I miss any good ones? Thanks everyone.

Hi there,
Here's my trip report from our June USVI / BVI vacation. If you look toward the bottom (we did BVI last) you'll see my comments on Mango Bay Resort.

I heard Guavaberry Spring Bay is nice as well... but at the time of year we went we needed A/C, which Mango Bay has in the bedrooms (Guavaberry does not in the main units).
At Olde Yard Village you'll have a pool... but OYV is in town, not on the beach. At Mango Bay you'll be able to walk right out to the very beautiful Mahoe Bay.
Mango Bay Resort has kayaks and beach floats which are free to use. When we were there, there were never more than 1-2 others on the beach in front of MBR at the same time... we often had it to ourselves.

Wow cawhite. WHAT a trip you went on... thanks for the trip report. I think Mango Bay will be perfect for us. Sounds like the garden view would be fine. I have read where others have said they are larger and nicer than the beach front, with a bigger patio.

Mango Bay and Guavaberry would be about tied for me. They're both excellent value. The great thing about both places is that they're a quick & easy drive to every place on the island except up to the North Sound (which is an easy drive, just not quick). Roads on VG are in excellent condition and most of the curves are wide rather than the usual 1.5 lane width of other islands.
I just tried to get a link to my trip report on VG but I couldn't make it clickable. You can search under British Virgin Islands and mine is called "ejcrowe's Virgin Gorda Trip Report" if you want to read through that, too. It should have links to our Shutterfly pics as well.

It was a VERY nice house. We only got lost a few times. (just kidding) Very comfortable and spacious without being over-the-top, I'm-too-afraid-to-touch-anything-to-feel-comfortable. The luxury of that place was the privacy, the space, and the location. The house, while perfectly lovely and gracious, wasn't like a high-end home in and of itself, unlike the Katitche Point Greathouse, for example.
