Le Blanc vs Secrets Maroma

Which would you choose if you were looking for luxurious accomodations, AI with various options other than buffet, beautiful beach, water activities, shopping and sightseeing? I'm 38 and my husband is 41 and we just want to get away next year in either May or the week of Labor Day.

Everyone gave me advice last week and I've narrowed my choices down to these two resorts.

Thanks!

Please also let us know if you would suggest a better time of year to go.

May would be better than Labor Day which is in hurricane season.
Secrets Maroma is just opening , so it's hard to advise on that resort, but it looks like it will be sensational.
You may also want to look into the Iberostar Paraiso Grand which is a top of the line adults only which is not located very far from Secrets Maroma.

Thanks. The Iberostar Paraiso Grand does look very nice. A traveler on another site said the food was not good.

May is a great time to go [we went to Tulumm/PDC May '08].

I've stayed at Secrets Capri and really enjoyed it. I'm not an AI person but loved the a la carte choices and just chillin' with DH.

Maroma beach is supposed to be beautiful. THere's a lot of growth there right now.

One traveler saying the food is not good at the Grand would not convince me. I have several friends who have been there and loved the food. Most reviews I've read also say the food is very good there.

Hi TntWalter,

I've never done AI but I figure I can have the comfort of having what I want when I want it, like on a cruise.

That's true schmerl. Now the hard part is trying to determine where to stay.

We are BIG fans of the AM Resorts products. Assuming that Secrets Maroma will be at least equal to Secrets Capri (but since it is brand new the rooms are likely to be even better) that is the one to choose. We were pretty turned off by Le Blanc. Everything being white got old and we thought the staff was pretty cool and sometimes downright cold. Must be all that lack of color they are around all day!
