Caribbean Vacation - small kids
We are interested in taking a vacation from the NY area to the caribbean some time next year (january, february or march). We aren't totally sure of budget yet but we could use $500 or so a night as a starting point.
We will have a 3 year old and an approx 10 month old. We are looking for calm beach, nice pool for our oldest, good food and perhaps a one bedroom. I'll need a fridge and a microwave. We also might do a kids camp this year.
We've been to the sands in turks & caicos and had a really nice time.
Any other suggestions?
Thanks for your help.

The Buccaneer Resort on St. Croix has an excellent reputation of being family friendly without catering exclusively to families. They do have some rooms with a fridge, not sure about microwave.
Another possibility is a place like the Reef Resort on the east end of Grand Cayman--they offer beachfront condos with full cooking facilities. this gives you the added benefit of an extra room to relax in if the kids are in bed early.

Hi KC,
Funny-we’re going to Long Island Bahamas w/our kids in Feb who will be 3 and 8 months when we go
Have you considered renting a villa? We’ve found they suit our needs much better than hotels with kids-much more private, larger (and less expensive), full kitchen/house, and more flexibility. Just a thought for you. There are plenty of sites out there which to browse for this option-you can start with caribbeanway.com or villascaribe.com –we’ve rented through both of those.
Otherwise, you might want to look into the Four Seaons Nevis-that looks great for kids. I haven’t been there myself but it gets great reviews here. Good luck!
