Upscale Resort with Kids
We are looking for an upscale, relaxing resort (the opposite of Beaches) to take children 5 years old and younger. We want to find a place that is also not too difficult to get to and has other children to play with. Any thoughts?

Please read knowing that I have not been to any of these places, but have researched them for trips with children in my family who are slightly older than yours. Buccaneer on St. Croix is a larger full service resort that is family friendly without catering strictly to families. Consistently gets good reviews.
Malliouhana on Anguilla is one of the top resorts on the island and it has a wonderful children's pool area with a pirate ship. If your kids are much younger than 5, though, they may be too young to appreciate or enjoy it.
Four Seasons on Nevis is frequently cited for being family friendly as well, but I'm not as familiar with what they offer for children 5 or under.
If you want to steer clear of Beaches, then I would imagine that Atlantis wouldn't be your cup of tea, either. Hope you find someplace wonderful for you and your little ones.

I'll put a plug in for the Buccaneer on St. Croix (do a search to see my other comments about our 5 stays there). Depending on time of year, you may or may not see other children of your kids' ages. And if you are looking for very upscale (Caneel, Four Seasons, etc.), the Buccaneer is just a notch below that.
We went to Atlantis when our kids were 4 and 6 (business event). Really didn't like it. It's huge and you walk long ways (tough with little ones). The pools and area are really interesting, but most walks include a trip through the casino. And I was appalled when we went to their version of a NY deli for breakfast and they had no kids menu. Paid $8 for my daughter to have a few bites of a pancake.
Their Discovery camp is great, however.
Our taste runs more to quiet, family-friendly, smaller resorts like the Buccaneer
