Frommers Budget Traveler
National Geographic Traveler
Travel Holiday

avoid Travel & Leisure unless you are the type that considers $400 a night hotels "quaint little bargain lodging" and $100 per person dinners (without wine) to be "eating cheap while on vacation".....

I have taken Conde Nast Traveler for several years now and still enjoy, but I do have some misgivings about where the magazine is headed. I dropped Travel and Leisure because, as noted above, I got so tired of their breathless drivel about bargain hotels that only cost 400-500 a night and on and on. Sadly, I see CNT heading that way now. I also find that the magazine had more pages devoted to adverts than it does to travel lately. Good for them and their income, bad for the reader. The most recent issue was a total loss as far as meaningful travel information, but man did it ever have a ton of adverts for expensive cars, clothes, watches, and cruise lines. Easy to see the demographics of their readers (and yes I fit it well).
