ITALY! Without a second thought...and would not miss Positano (Amalfi Coast), Venice or the Tuscany area.

If it was an island - either back to Provo or Cap Julca in Anguilla.

I think Brooklyn Bomber was being sarcastic (note the over 50 comment).

Oh how can one resist the charms of "Beauuuuutiful Mount Airy Lodge!"

Seriously, we love Jamaica too, and prefer it to the other Carib islands we've visted...

Just got back from a wedding and honeymoon on St. Lucia. Spent two weeks there. I would definitly go back to Anse Chastnet. GREAT beach activities and lots to do locally. Very romantic rooms. Plus other couples come from a cross section of Europe and Asia so the place has an international flair. Didn't disappoint.
I'd then look at Petit St. Vincent. Total seclusion on pristine beaches.
Enjoy.

In the Caribbean I would choose either Tortola in the BVI's (lovely island, close to other islands for outings, safe), Grenada (wondeful island, friendly locals, safe,)or Provo in the TCI's (somewhat a scrub island, but Grace Bay is marvelous, safe). We spent our honeymoon touring Costa Rica (outstanding fauna/flora, myriad of things to do, safe) and would not hesitate to return. Europe...we really enjoyed Italy (well Rome, Pompei and Naples at least)for the antiquity. Last June we toured the Republic and Northern Ireland (Giant Causeway is amazing) and the highlands of Scotland (astounding vistas, tried haggis one night, liked it so much ordered another time, also visited the Old Course in St. Andrews, got to stand in the Road Hole bunker and on the Silken Bridge)

If you're traveling from the East coast, i would opt for Hawaii or Tahiti; you can always do the Caribbean on a future vacation on 7 days.

If you've decided on the Caribbean, i would go to the USVI/BVI and stay at a couple of different places.

Rarotonga, cook islands. There are some wonderful villas on the island, and the scenery is breathtaking. It is not commercialized like hawaii and you won't find any huge all inclusives or highrise hotels. Very tropical.

We're planning a trip to Costa Rica right now, and it seems like the trip of a lifetime---volcanoes better than Hawaii, beaches, jungle, monekys, cloud forests, waterfalls---all for a better price than Hawaii.

We were married on St. John U.S.V.I., and my eyes glaze over with stars each time I remember it. Picture white sand beaches and calm blue water surrounded by cliffs and mountains.

You will have plenty of activity. There people places at the resorts and on St. Thomas, but there's plenty of remote places you can hike without bumping into anyone. You can snorkel or lounge on the beach. You have great options for day trips. I recommend the Baths on Virgin Gorda. But you could also day trip to Jost Van Dyke, St. Thomas, Tortola, Norman Island, etc.

You can rent a private villa for a decent price if you do a lot of calling around. Ours overlooked the East Bay and was surrounded by jungle. It had a hot tub on the deck.

ARUBA....that's where we went and even extended our honeymoon while we were there. We stayed at La Cabana-all inclusive. NOT ONE BAD THING TO SAY.

Another thing to take into consideration is where you are traveling from. I live on the east coast so traveling to Hawaii was quite a long trip with a 7 hour layover in Los Angeles.

Although I loved Hawaii, the carribean probably would have made more sense (who wants to spend an entire day traveling?). Try and find an island that people rave about that is close to you.

You will be exhausted enough from the wedding so being able to hop on a plane and arrive in a reasonable amount of time will be worth it.

I have traveled to Hawaii many times and have previously recommended some choices. I must say I think romance must have been created on these islands. I was watching the Travel Channel last week and some of the resorts in their 10 best list I would have definitely have loved to stay at. Of these I have only seen the Princeville Hotel--the area is gorgeous.
No. 1 was the very luxurious asian-mediterranean inspired Manele Bay Hotel on the quiet island of Lanai--miles of untouched wilderness and private beach areas.
A very romantic honeymoon would be to start in a restful environment with a spa pampering stay at the deluxe Kohala Mandarin Oriental Hotel near Diamonhead in Oahu away from the busy streets of Waikiki. From there fly to the unique island of Lanai and stay at the Manele Bay Hotel or at the Lodge at Koele Hotel. Finish the trip by staying at the Princeville Hotel in Kauai--AAA 4 Diamond award 2003--lush landscaping, lots of bright tropical flowers, natural beauty and beautiful views. Although it would be an unbelievable honeymoon certainly not the cheapest!
