hotels near ferry?
we are going on our honeymoon 10/27 and plan on landing in St. Martin, staying the night, and then taking a ferry over to Anguilla for the rest of our trip. Can someone recommend a nice hotel that is fairly close to the ferry? Thanks.

I do not know much about the hotels in St. Martin, some one else would have to recommend one for you.

But I do know St. Martin well enough to suggest you do NOT stay in Marigot (the town where the ferry's depart and arrive). It has a lot of crime at night.

What time does your flight arrive in St. Martin? Are you looking for a resort-type hotel? This info might help people to rec a hotel.

Yes, dtour, I agree the Maho area is probably best. Friends of mine like staying there because it's lively at night and you can walk around to the restaurants. Which might be good if you're arriving at 10pm and feeling a little hungry.

I haven't stayed there myself and so don't want to recommend somewhere. I THINK my friends stayed at Maho Reef, and altho' it wasn't spectacular, it was clean and nice enough.
What is the Royal Islander like?

Jen, your best bet is staying at the Maho, close to the airport, easy checkin in and then getting to the ferry, are you working with a travel agent, why didn't she have you go direct into Anguilla??? But I love St. Maarten (sorry Dana) after 20 trips still find stuff to do and enjoy, another new place is the Inn at Coupecoy, above the Citrus restaurant,
I agree that the Maho area would probably be your best bet since you arrive late and will probably still want to eat and have some fun. As everyone else said, don't stay in Marigot. You COULD stay in Grand Case on the French side, but most places in that area will be closed (or closing) that late. Maho or Royal Islander would be best, in my opinion.

It's not that far to Marigot, but it might be a good idea to get a cab into Marigot about an hour ahead of time the following day (due to traffic and bridge closings), and you can shop around while waiting for the ferry to Anguilla.

Have fun and congratuations!
