Been going to the Caribbean once or twice a year for 20 years, and will continue to do so.

Been to Maui once, and that was enough.

Our favorites: Anguilla & Grace Bay, Turks & Caicos(for the beaches), St. Bart's(for that delicious French feel),
St. John, Virgin Gorda, & Grand Cayman(for the snorkeling), Windsurf cruise(for a romantic sail)

All these posts continue to be so helpful! Thank you, thank you!

kellybeaches -- Thanks for your generous offer to share your Kauai pics. My email is [email protected]

knowing -- I really appreciate the comparison of Fr. Polynesia, Kauai, and the Grenadines! I am going to look into Moorea as a possibility. Although I'm not sure it will be within our budget, it certainly sounds like it's worth trying to make it work!

When you say "some people aren't comfortable with snorkeling in Kauai in winter", is that because the water is rougher?

mnag -- You make a very good point about Kauai. I think, like you, we will feel like we have to do all the fun, adventurous things there are to do, when we really just want to chill out, so we'll keep that in mind in making our choice.

It's interesting how some people have a strong preference for either hawaii or the caribbean, and others love both!

Hi Kas,
Check your inbox. I sent you the link to my pictures. I hope I don't overload you-there are a lot! But they should give you a good feel for Kauai (and I sent you our honeymoon pics from Maui as well -we did our second week there, but didn't like it as much as Kauai. Actually I believe the first words we said when we got off the plane were "can we go back to Kauai now?"

Moorea is beautiful! If you can't get it to work for your honeymoon, make sure you do it someday!

Kauai does have a rougher surf in the winter. There is so much I can say about the island though. The wild chickens, Waimea canyon, the dining, Jo-Jo's shave ice and one of the best things I have ever done in my life is the helicopter ride. We - almost reluctantly - leave for Maui in 11 days. We are so in love with Kauai that my husband keeps saying he wishes we were going back to Kauai again. But, we decided to try something new in Hawaii this year and expand our horizons, so we'll see how it goes.

One last thing. You are on a Caribbean site. The majority of people here are going to express a deep love for the Caribbean islands. I am going to tell you that the Caribbean, Hawaii (we didn't care much for Oahu though)and Moorea all have their own places where you can enjoy nature, hang out on a warm beach, and do some walking. Kauai offers the waterfalls. They also have some wonderful dining as do some of the Caribbean islands.

What ever you choose, enjoy!
