El Conquistador

I will be there in July with my wife and two children. I heard the restaurants are expensive. Does anyone know the typical price for an entree? Do they have a childrens menu? Is there a lower cost alternative anywhere on the resort or within walking distance outside the resort?

EC is awesome, but walking outside of the property is not an option. It's pretty far away and there is no place to go within walking distance.

I was just there in February. I am from NY and the prices didn't shock me more than any other resort's food prices.
They do have kids menu's in the restaurants that cover the basic choices, pasta, grilled cheese, etc.

Your best bet is to rent a car. Many restuarant nearby (not walking distance though).

Can't speak for price of children's meals but when we were there in Dec. of last year our avg. meal per person was $25.

Just returned from PR and stayed at the El Conquistador. The price of food depends on which place you eat. They range from $8.50 for a hotdog and fries at Cafe Caribe to a dinner for two at Isabella's (which was wonderful!)for $146.00. We eat at the mexican place (can't remember the name) on the way down to the marina and I had chicken quasidellas (sp?)for about $12.00. It just all depends on what you want. Some things seemed high to me but others seemed reasonable. Keep in mind you are at a resort. Our kids were not with us so I never saw a kids menu but I did see that they were available. My husband ate a breakfast buffet that was $22.00 but I opted for a cinnamon roll and drink at David's Cookies for $4.75. There are plenty of options. Hope this helps.
