Jenny. AWFUL. I brought my kids here a few years ago, everyone got sick. Expensive for the greasy food you get expecially if you are bringing a few kids. I thought the whole place was cold and dreary also. Its a big tourist trap, Chinatown is a lot better food and atmosphere. Sorry, to dissapoint but you will be kicking yourself when you spend all your money there, and believe me, the kids wont care if they go there or not.

Jenny, the restaurant is at 1409 6th just north of 57th St. The phone number is (212) 541-9505. Here is a site with a little more info: http://www.jekyllandhydeclub.com/home.html The kids wil enjoy it, the atmosphere is a lot of fun, the food is "ok"
There is another location in Greenwich Village at 91 Seventh Avenue South

The food was truly awful. Our youngest child was too scared to eat anyway. If you want a quick meal with kids, there are lots of coffee shops with decent food. Personally, I resent paying high prices for horrible food, and the kids don't care about the atmosphere that much. They appreciate good food, too.

If you are planning on visiting during the holidays, I would avoid Serendipity, it will be MOBBED!
If the kids wanted to go to the Jekyll and Hyde Club, why not go for lunch? It would be less expensive than dinner if this was something the kids really thought they wanted to do.
The poster whose children were scared didn't say how old they were, for the really young it could be overwhelming; but you are the best one to judge what your children would or would not enjoy.
Have a nice visit!

J&H can be great fun for kids. Go with that attitude and you will have fun, too. Food is OK, not that overpriced for NY if you stick to the basics - sandwiches, salads. Big drawback is the wait. IMHO much better than Mars 2112, and talk about high prices - that's Serendipity!

A good restaurant for a family with young kids is America on 18th st (just off 5th av), On weekends they usually have magicians and balloon artists wandering. The place is huge, there is room for kids to walk around, and the restauarant has tons to choose from. The food isn't great, but a cut above theme restaurants and fairly reasonable. Older kids may like to eat in CHinatown and little italy. If they are adventurous eaters there are tons of great ethnic places they would enjoy.
