Condos on 7 mile beach
We are a family of 5 looking to go to Grand Cayman in May. Looking for the quieter northern part of 7 mile beach. I have been looking at the following condo complexes. Plantana, Christopher Columbus Discovery Point and the Avalon. Has anyone stayed at any of these condos recently. What would be the pros and cons of each. I understand there is some ironshore by Discovery Point but we like to snorkel but also want a nice beach. Wanted to stay at the Meridian but there seems to be too much construction going around that part of 7 mile beach. We want something quiet(meaning no construction) with good snorkeling close by. Any comments would be appreciated or any other suggestions as to good places to stay.

We've stayed at Christopher Columbus several times and enjoy it. they have a pool, if that is important to you. Very quiet area. You'll need to rent a car as it's rather far from restaurants and shops. You can walk in both directions and see very few people.

Plantana is a good choice. Near enough too Foster 2 walk. Eats is right across the street from the Westin. The Sunshine Suites has a BBQ every Thrusday. Beach in front of Plantana has a slight drop off 2 the water. Another choice would be the Villas of the Galleon they are between the Westin and the Ritz. Best stretch of beach is from the VOG too the Avalon. The VOG has no pool (for those who need a pool). Thier is ironshore at DP.

My family of 5 (plus my mom made 6) stayed at Discovery Point May 2006.We absolutely enjoyed our stay. The condo was very clean and nicely decorated. The kids (ages 11,8 and 3)loved the oceanfront pool and we loved the jaquzzi.
We stayed in unit #19 which is an upstairs unit but it was nicely kept.
Anymore questions...feel free to ask!

Thanks everyone for all your suggestions. We have decided to book our vacation at Discovery Point. The manager has answered all my questions promptly(usually same day or next). I wish I could say the same for some of the other properties I contacted. Thanks again.

amacmom,
I am glad to read that you booked Discovery Point! The management is very nice and very helpful with questions when you arrive there.
May was a great time to visit last year, maybe this May will bring you good weather also.
I also recommend a snorkeling trip with Captain Marvin's to Stingray City..our kids (and us) really enjoyed it.

Discovery Point is a pretty good complex, but I really prefer the Villas of the Galleon, it doesn't have a pool, but it is definetly the best part of 7 mile beach and very quiet. If you need pictures of the different beaches I would be more than happy to email you.
