Cayman Condos - area?
We are looking to go on a 5 day trip to Grand Cayman at the beginning of May. We will be travelling with our 18 month old son - who last month discovered sand and loves it. We've decided on a condo rather than a hotel room for space reasons. However are wondering whether we should go for something on 7MB or head to Cayman Kai. We are looking for a nice, calm clean beach for our son to play on. Good restaurants reasonably nearby would be good (we don't mind hiring a car) as i don't want to spend my vacation cooking all the time although a couple of nights would be acceptable. I am looking overall for a relaxing and fun time - not too fussed about nightlife as I'm 6 months pregnant with our 2nd child.
Thanks in advance for you advice

Hi Kerry. Though I haven't been to GC yet, I have been researching it thoroughly and Villas of the Galleon has been recoomended to me most often. It's supposed to sit on the best stretch of 7MB, with very calm water and good snorkeling (if you are interested). They also have a neat tree swing. And it's walking distance to many restaurants, food stores and shops.
Check out their website www.villasofthegalleon.com
This is where I am spending my honeymoon!
Good luck to you!

Kerry, Hi we stayed at Aqua Bay, in February in the Grand Caymans it was wonderful. It would be perfect for your vacation. Probably need to rent a car not too many restaurants near by.
The other guests who stayed there were great too. There is a grocery store within walking distance of the condo,
Gail is the General Manager and she does a great job. You won't be sorry staying there.

I highly recommend Plantana Condo. It is quiet and perfect for families! Our 2 bedroom condo was huge but so nice with a view of the beach, pool and beautiful landscaped property. You would need to rent a car but its a very nice location of 7mile beach

Kerry,
Just stayed at Aqua Bay this past August with my 15, 12 and then 18 month old. It was great. Stayed in condo 5 which is a two bedroom bottom floor. Recently renovated (as all the condos have) and clean. They will also provide a portable travel crib and highchair when requested. I believe that was free. Matter of fact we are talking about going back this summer. Have any more questions just ask.

We just returned from a terrific trip to GC. Stayed in a condo at Treasure Island with several kids including a two year old. The 2 year old could not get enough of the pool-there is a very large shallow kiddie pool with a waterfall that he could walk around and splash in. The beach is sandy right up to the water then it gets rocky-it wasn't a problem. He liked the Atlantis glass bottom boat and seeing all the fish-we liked it because he was enclosed and could walk around without falling overboard. He got restless on our boat trip to stingray city and other snorkeling sites (we had grandparents along to help). Wish we could go back, have a wonderful time.

I would not stay in Cayman Kai area if you like to go to restaurants. There are very few restaurant choices on that side of the island and it is at least a 30-45 minute drive into Georgetown from Cayman Kai. I personally prefer the 7 Mile Beach area. I have stayed at Villas of the Galleon and Casa Caribe. Villas of the Galleon is a good value for the money and the beach is beautiful and lots of shade which you might like especially if you have a baby.

Would definitely stay on 7MB. Beach is as good as it gets. We stayed at Plantana last year and it worked out great. You can walk to Westin and get mixed drinks and also rent waverunners etc. Other condos around there are good too. Would not get any closer to town than Marriott becasue beach is not as good.
