Caribbean Vacation - Help Needed Deciding

Hello everyone,

I'm planning a 4-night vacation in the Caribbean in late May 2016 with my boyfriend. I've never been before, so I have no idea which island to go to. I need your help and expertise! As an FYI, I'll be traveling from the LA area. I've done Mexico recently, so I wanted to try something new. Is it possible to find something that fits my preferences below in the Caribbean, or should I stick with Riviera Maya, Mexico? Below is what I'm looking for:

-clear, warm water
-delicious food options
-beachfront/walkable to water
-quiet, relaxing atmosphere
-easy trip into town should we want to go out to dinner and explore
-room less than $200/night

Any recommendations?

Thanks!

That's a long flight for 4 nights. Late May is the off season, so you will find the best prices for rooms. It might be easier to start with the shortest flights from LA. Anguilla meets most of your criteria, but there are no direct flights and you may have to pay around $200 or a little more. Check Anguilla Great House(on Rendezvous Bay), Nathan's Cove, Carimar, Turtle's Nest (all on Mead's Bay), Shoal Bay Villas(on Shoal Bay East). Blue Waters Apartments on Shoal Bay West is more isolated, but it is a small island. The summer rates for Rendezvous Bay Hotel may fit your budget. All are beachfront. Also look into renting a villa, although most are a short drive to a beach (the island is only 3 miles wide)

Thank you for the response! I was worried about the timeframe. Coming from LA, it may make more sense to do Riviera Maya, Mexico.

Anguilla will meet all your requirements except for cost. It is one of the most exp islands in the Caribbean. Beachykeen has mentioned some excellent options. Some of the Bahamas out islands may also meet your requirement (Abacos, Treasure Cay, Harbor Island) but the trip for you to get to them will not be easy.

Where on Grand Cayman is a good area to stay? Is the food/beach comparable to Anguilla?

Most first time visitors to Grand cayman stay on or near 7 Mile Beach.

Lots of food options and wonderful white sand beaches all around the island.
