I think Anguilla should be for hubby and you ! I spent a week at CJ two years ago with my 20 something daughter, and although she enjoyed the beautful beaches and some great dining, I could tell there was not enough *action* for her. I expect that she will return (someday) when she is married and have a FAR better time than she did with *old mom*
!
I believe that Penny lives in New York and would be able to give some wonderful NYC ideas. She is also an expert on Antigua. She is a woman with great taste and so willing to help.
I lived in NYC many moons ago, and it still holds a special place in my heart.
I visit as often as I can, with above mentioned daughter.
I have been to Anguilla for the last two years. I'm off to Jamaica inn, for two weeks, in April.

Hi Penny - I always enjoy reading your posts, very informative and helpful! I was interested to read that you want to check out the Rendezvous Bay rooms in the villas. We did so last summer and decided to book a room there for this summer (up to now we stayed at Frangipani). The rooms at Rendezvous are nice, recently renovated, simple and basic of course but with a light and spacious feel. Especially downstairs it's like you can step right into the sea from your patio! In the end, though, we opted for an upstairs 'studio' (with full kitchen, they also have those!) for more privacy. We have met Bart as well, several times, and he is extremely helpful (and it's nice to speak with him in our own language).
Anyway, I'll let you know how we liked the hotel after our stay - so far it looks great anyway, exactly what we want!

I stayed at RBH for two weeks last March/April and it is a wonderful place !!
There is a feeling of *family* there, as Jeramiah who celebrated his 91st birthday last week, comes to swim every day at 11. He has much wisdom and Anguillan history to share with guests who swim with him. RBH has a traditional, old Caribbean flavor, bacause the Gumbs family wants to keep it that way. Simple, but pristine accommodations...and oh that beach proximity
!
The first floor suites are wonderful ! it's almost like having your own private cottage directly on the beach ! Just the BEST, IMHO.
Bart is a gracious host and sees to your every need. A lot of the guests come year. There is a wonderful mix of ages...even a few singles (like me !)
I think you're going to love it !!

We tried to tour the rooms last spring, but they were all booked. Marion it really sounds like a relaxing, no hype
place to stay.
Hope you have a wonderful trip at The Jamica Inn. I have checked out their web site many times, in fact their old manager Rudy ( breifly at Jumby) told
us it is a wonderful place. So please post when you get back!

Hi Penny
You know I will post. It may not be an organized post but I'll try ;-) !
I'm looking forward to JI...I'm just looking forward to getting out of the frozen tundra...ya know ?
I think, as a single, I'll feel very confortable at JI...and I have read that their new full service spa is quite amazing.
I have booked one of their premier verandah suites right OVER the water
!
Do you see a pattern here...RBH made me happy because it was so close to the water....and at JI my verandah puts me over the water
!
I put myself into the water....but I still won't snorkel ! Nope...not UNDER the water ;-) !!

Thanks Marion for the thumbs-up on Rendezvous! We are so looking forward to it, had dinner there a few times and loved the atmosphere, so relaxed...
Glad to hear about the first-floor suites too, sounds like we made the right choice....! Alas, another four months or so to go... and it's snowing here!

Whoops... I just realized that what you Americans call 'first floor; is the same as 'ground floor', right? What WE call first floor in Europe is the floor ABOVE the 'ground floor', what you would call second floor... Apologies for the confusion (anyway, we have booked a 'second-floor' studio at Rendezvous, with a balcony).
