Best mid-priced accommodations
I know its asking a lot but were trying to plan our November wedding/honeymoon in the Caribbeanjust the two of us, no guests, on a $3000 budget including airfare (were in Florida, so flights are fairly cheap.) I pick a new island every day! I need help!!
Wed like to stay somewhere casual, private and as special as this kind of money will allow (away from casinos, tourist traps, high rises, golf courses, etc.) where we can lounge and walk on the beaches, snorkel, kayak, explore, and hike.
Does anyone know of a mid-priced hotel/villa/resort that fits the bill?
Thank you!
Hi. I haven't been but I've heard really good things about the Guavaberry Hotel in Virgin Gorda (a close friend stayed there and highly recommends it). I believe it is about $110 per night. I know that airfare to Tortola in November (where you'd have to fly in to) is running about $700 now (but with a travel agent/package can be had for as low as $550). See the reviews on wheretostay.com for more info.

Frangipani on Anguilla is quite special (small, intimate - 8 units) & on the best beach on the island. You can get their "sun, sea & sand" special for $1500/wk & a rental car for $215/wk. Airfare from DC in November runs $420-450 so should be much cheaper from FL. Check out www.frangipani.ai. We saw a sunset wedding on their patio last November -- it was gorgeous.

Kate:

Check out Estate Lindholm on St. John. It's a fairly new inn with about 10 units in a great location on St. John. (Great Island) The website is www.estatelindholm.com. They even do weddings, and the hosts Lauren and Brion are wonderful. A garden view room (which actually has a harborview)will cost $170.00 per night in November. Husband and I stayed there in April 2001 and are returning in 12 days. Our April 2001 trip was for 5 nights and with airfare and rental car (a must) cost was about #3,000. Best wishes!

Suggestion is the Abaco Beach Resort in Abaco Bahamas--breathtaking waterfront location--wedding packages available. 80 new and remodeled oceanfront rooms and suites--tennis courts, private beach, watersports, scuba diving, fishing, 2 freshwater pools and swim up bar--best yet you don't have to travel far!
