Actually tourism is booming in Aruba. Most hotels are booked. This was an isolated case why would it discourage people from going to Aruba and missing out on a great vacation.

I think TG is merely an agitator. Don't take the bait. And TG you should be ashamed of yourself for using this subject just to stir things up. Have some respect and dignity. This is about, most probably a murdered teen.

I hope they very well ARE hurting. At present I would go to Hawaii or the US Virgin Islands rather than risk my safety in a country that apparently has no real justice system. Think about it before you make your reservations!!
It's cruel and sad. My prayers are with Beth Holloway and her family.
Put the blame where it belongs...with Joran Van Der Sloot and the Aruban governnment.

We do not know the outcome of this yet.I feel that for the innocence, nice locals(not the government)it would be a real shame if tourism is affected. We met a genuinely nice fellow while there that plans to open his own restaurant oneday..I would only hope for the best for him and his family. He was so focused on everyone having a great vacation.

Now if the govt. is covering up something (no one knows for sure) the people of Aruba should fight to get a new govt.Don't know what good it would do though.
