Galley Bay is a very nice somewhat upscale resort (think in terms of 3 1/2 or 4-stars not 5-star) on a picturesque light golden sand beach. The water there can be a bit wavy at certain times when the northern swells are high (sorry it's impossible to predict when this may occur but odds are it happens more in winter than summer).
The food service is good and staff is helpful. Rooms are spacious with comfortable furniture. Grounds are nicely kept.
Perhaps if you told us what you are looking for in a resort experience we could tell you if you'd be happy at Galley Bay.

Galley Bay is our all-time favorite beach resort and we have been to many! Simply the perfect fit for us -- charming, peaceful, great beach, great service, gorgeous landscaping, low-density, good food. Happy to answer any specific questions. Been there in both 2008 and 2009 and will go back!

As in any city, I would be careful roaming around St. John's at night, but I have never felt unsafe in Antigua and certainly never felt unsafe at Galley Bay! It's so great you probably won't want to leave the resort much anyway.

I'm thinking of planning a romantic (my girlfriend turns 30 in May) vacation for the end of August. Should I consider looking into this particular place...or shall I keep exploring. Just figured i'd ask since I have some people will real experience here!
Thank you so much, i'm absolutely in love with this website and everybody who participates.

Hi Worldview, I just answered your other post and made some suggestions. We love Antigua and Galley Bay, but I don't think it is what you are looking for at this time. Many of the properties in Antigua are fairly upscale AI, with guests staying fairly resort-bound for the luxury and peace and quiet. I think someone your age might find it boring. And it's expensive. However, if you are ever in the market for a quiet, peaceful, private, romantic, honeymoon destination, definitely check out Galley Bay!
