Airfare to St. thomas? St. John questions

Airfare to St. thomas? St. John questions
Hi, we are planning a trip to St. John in mid May. 2 questions: Is this an ok time to go? We had been planning on early April but can't do that now. Will it be much hotter/buggier?
As far as airfare-price now is at $400 or so (flying from New England). Can we expect it to go down or is that pretty much what it's going to be (don't want to wait and have it go up!)

We usually go the first week of May every year as ut is the beginning of low season. Maybe we don't know any better but we love to go at that time. I think that $400 is steal. We are paying $600 from Chicago. Good Luck!

Hello EllieB,
My wife and I will be returning to St. John at the same time. The best price for a flight that I've found is $496 each on United.
I've also seen a $390is flight mentioned in the Boston Globe but did not note the airline.
What airline did you find running at $400?

Thank you so much for the replies, I did get the tickets.
mm- I found them on US airways website(do a search by fare) They were $391 w/ tax etc. flying from Hartford. Boston was maybe $10 higher but didn't have as many travel dates available.
