A few Provo questions
We (group of five-Two teens, 14,17 , mom, dad and mother-in-law) will be arriving on Provo June 17. June 18 (Thursday) is son's 17th birthday- We are fairly well -traveled, Kids enjoy an adult setting and special meals. Husband is a "foodie"--That said we don't need over the top to enjoy ourselves. I am thinking we could go to Da Conch Shack for appetizer, drink and some live music and then head somewhere else for dinner. I think Anacoana at Grace Bay Club may be over the top. What about Coco Bistro or Bay Bistro? BTW, Blamona, you have been very helpful during our planning! Also we are setting up plans for a sailing day, if our budget permits--we would like a LOW Key 1/2 day sail. I am checking out Sail Beluga. It is my understanding that they might have a smaller sailboat for fewer than eight people. Has anyone had experience with this? The owner is away until mid May and I'd like an idea on price. Sail Provo and Atebeyra are a bit out of our reach and very large boats. Kids and I are really looking forward to this if we can make it happen. Last year we were in St. Lucia and sailing plans fell apart due to weather. Thanks in advance for all of the help for this first time Provo visitor!

Thursday night at Da Conch Shack is fun BUT, it gets very busy ( we parked at Hores eye Jacks next door) Service is slow on Thursday nights with the crowds..great idea thou. We love Coco Bistro and Bay Bistro...edge to Coco for setting and better menu. Don't miss Mango Reef at RWI, food is fantastic and prices are reasonable. For fun check out the Clam bake at The Somerset on Tuesday evenings on the beach . ( Reservation a must) Great setting and they do everything well!!! O'Soleil (at the Somerset is excellent)

We just got back from Provo, and the thursday night thing at the conch shack wasn't crowded at all. When we asked someone about it they said that they had lost their group that people used to come and see? I don't really know much about that, but it wasn't crowded.

When we were there Daniel & Nadine played--they were the BIG draw there and at The Somerset...I have heard they had a visa problem or something! So, as palmtree2384 said it was not crowded--that is why! Lets hope they come back!!

Beluga is excelent-trully sailing (no motors allowed!) This is just an estimate, but it runs about $650 for the 1/2 day, but Captian Tim drags it out, so it lasts usually 4-5 hours. He takes up to 6 people out on his boat, so it's completely a private charter.
While it can happen, and I can't predict the weather, you'll be hard pressed to have to cancel a sail trip. The waters are protected by an outer reef, so weather is usually terrific. My experiences in June, on average, is sunny, and water is like a giant swimming pool.
You may also want to consider Caicos Dream Tours. While it is public, they usually take out 10-14 people. This is a motor catamaran, but makes for an excellent day. If you do full day ($189 adults--14 year old would probably be 1/2 price) the full day has a picnic at Ft. George, stops at the other side of Ft. George to snorkel for sand dollars, stops at the reef to snorkel, stops to dive for conch, and ends the day at stunning do not miss Half Moon Bay. They also have 1/2 days.
Whichever one you choose will be amazing, you won't believe the color of the water there.
Check out my recent "Another trip report with pictures" has pictures of the CDT excursion. During that excursion we ran into Beluga--it's a beautiful boat.
For dinner, my personal favorite is Coco Bistro, and we usually enjoy Hemmingways. Bay Bistro has excellent food, but service can be extremely slow. The setting is great though, so if you can roll with the punches, the food makes up for it. Tiki Hut on Wednesday nights are always popular and the ribs are the excellent! Da Conch Shack has, conch, but the colorful shacks on the beach are an experience!
Thanks for the compliment--hope you enjoy my opinions, and always feel free to asking my opinion! ;-)
In July, my Fodors guidebook comes out--you can pre-order it on Amazon. While it's after your trip, you can read my reviews and tell me if you agree! 8-)
