which hotel in Montreal?? Help Please
I am thinking of staying in either the Hotel De La Montagne or the Le Germaine? Any comments on either? I am looking for a really nice hotel for three nights- which area is a better location? Please help. Thanks

Not familiar with Le Germaine, but we've been staying at Hotel de la Montagne for many years. We love everything about that place. Especially in the nice whether when your room key gets you to the head of the line for the rooftop cocktail terrace and Sunday brunch (include in the weekend room rate) on the deck of Thursdays is just magnificent.

We stayed at the Hotel De La Montagne in early September 2001. The hotel room and bathroom were spacious. The rooftop terrace was an added extra. However, it was closed for private funtions on both Friday & Saturday nights that we stayed there.which was disappointing. I liked the location of the hotel. Plenty of places to eat....and just a quick cab ride to other interesting areas.

I stayed in the Le Germaine last Oct.It is a great hotel, the service is first class, the rooms are large, well designed ,very luxurious.and I loved the colors and style they used.
They have a new restaurant that might be pretty good also.
There is a big fireplace in the lobby and one rainy day it was such a treat to sit on the big down sofa in front of the fire with drinks and just relax before going upstairs to get ready for dinner.
You can find them at www.legermain.com,I think,I will check and repost if I am wrong

I just returned from Montreal. I stayed at the Hotel de la Montagne and could not have been happier!

The rooms were spacious, service was excellent, front desk people were knowledgeable about restaurants, metro, even where I could get that very early coffee (Second Cup, two short blocks away). And the doorman was always ready to write directions when we set out in the morning.

Also, the parking/valet service was only $12/day, which was cheaper than most large hotels.
