What clothes to take for Victoria

I find the climate mild. I always have a Polarfleece pullover along when I visit Canada, particularly the Rockies.
As for dressy, I found no need for a suit and tie, but I did not go to the most expensive places to eat either.
My clothes were what I take anywhere, including Europe, unless I know I am going to a specific event where a suit is recommended, e.g. a formal wedding reception or the opera. Even at the opera in Vienna, no one was going to throw me out because I lacked a tie and coat.

The weather at the end of May can vary. A sweater and a windbreaker type jacket will be all you would need. The 60's is average but it depends on the area of Victoria. The downtown area and James Bay (where most of the attractions are) is surrounded by water and is cooler. It can be breezy but in May it isn't usually windy. We are very casual here so really dressy clothes are not necessary. If you are planning on dining at the Empress hotel a jacket would be in order and if you are having tea at the Empress jeans are not allowed. Other than that - casual is the norm. Oh yes, bring an umbrella just in case.
